The Ford Mustang here at Ramey Ford Princeton in Princeton, WV is a fast and powerful vehicle with a great history of performance features. One such feature is the handling, which can be seen in how it handles curves or on winding roads. Handling is a critical part of a vehicle's performance capabilities, and the Ford Mustang has always been well above average.
The secret lies in its independent rear suspension or IRS system, which was first introduced by Ford for this model. The 1969 version of the Ford Mustang had a rear axle that was redesigned with four-link traction bars as well as coil springs. This design worked very well in the beginning but was later improved upon with an addition of a Panhard Rod.
This was added to improve handling and stability during hard acceleration at high speeds. While this was not enough to make it into an all-out racing car, it provided for much better road performance than ever before. The suspension was very well designed and helped the vehicle be in its own distinct class.
