The short version
What changed on the 2027 Ford F-150

Powertrain
The 3.0L EcoBoost replaces the 2.7L, and the V8 comes back

The headline is the base engine. For 2027 the 3.0L EcoBoost V6 takes over from the 2.7L EcoBoost. Ford is clear that it shares the same core architecture and reaches the same peak capability, so this is not a power war. The difference is where the torque shows up.
Ford quotes roughly 10 to 11 percent more torque in the range where daily driving happens. That is the part of the rev range you actually use pulling out of a job site, climbing out of the New River valley, or merging onto I-77 with a loaded bed.
The second change will please a specific group of people. The 5.0L V8 returns to King Ranch and Platinum for the first time since 2023, which means the V8 is now available across the whole lineup from XL to Platinum.
| Engine | Output | What Ford says about it |
|---|---|---|
| 3.0L EcoBoost V6 New standard engine | Ford has not published peak hp or lb-ft | Replaces the 2.7L EcoBoost and shares its core architecture. Roughly 10 to 11 percent more torque where daily driving occurs. Up to 8,400 lbs towing and 1,755 lbs payload on a Regular Cab 6.5 ft box 4x2, properly equipped. |
| 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 | 400 hp / 410 lb-ft | Returns to King Ranch and Platinum for the first time since 2023. Now available across the lineup, XL through Platinum. |
| 3.5L EcoBoost V6 | 500 lb-ft | The tow motor. Up to 13,500 lbs on a SuperCrew 6.5 ft box 4x4 with the Tow Haul Package and the optional Max Tow Axle. |
| 3.5L PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6 | 570 lb-ft | Available 2.4 kW and available 7.2 kW Pro Power Onboard, which turns the truck into a generator at a job site or a camp. |
BlueCruise with Towing
The first Ford truck that can tow hands free
Ford says more than 75 percent of F-150 customers tow, and until now the hands free system switched off the moment you hooked up a trailer. For 2027 it does not.
BlueCruise with Towing works across more than 130,000 miles of pre qualified divided highways that Ford calls Blue Zones. For a truck based in Princeton that means the long dull stretches: I-77 north toward Beckley, south through the East River Mountain Tunnel into Virginia, and the run across to Wytheville.
It is hands free, not attention free. The system watches the road and a driver facing camera watches you. Take the boat to Bluestone Lake and you still have to pay attention. You just do not have to hold the wheel for ninety minutes.
It is available on BlueCruise equipped trims, XLT through Platinum.

New for 2027
The F-150 Carhartt

Two American work brands putting their names on the same truck is not a subtle idea, and the 2027 F-150 Carhartt does not pretend otherwise. It is exclusive to the 4x4 XLT Crew Cab.
- Carhartt themed badging inside and out
- Unique 20 inch wheels
- Fender vents
- Two tone seat covers with Carhartt accent stitching
- Spray in bedliner
Ford lists a manufacturer suggested retail price of $62,660 MSRP for the 2027 F-150 Carhartt. That figure excludes taxes, title and license.
Ordering in Princeton
This is an order truck, not a lot truck, for now
Orders for the 2027 F-150 are open and Ford expects first deliveries in early 2027. Nothing on our lot on Courthouse Road is a 2027 yet.
That is actually the good news. Ordering early is how you get the cab, box, axle and package combination you want rather than choosing from whatever arrives. If you tow seriously, the 3.5L EcoBoost with the Tow Haul Package and the Max Tow Axle is a conversation worth having before you order, not after.
In the meantime we have current new F-150 inventory in Princeton, our used Ford inventory, and the F-150 research page if you want the broader picture of the truck rather than just the 2027 changes.
Financing can start before the truck does. Our credit application takes a few minutes, and the payment calculator will get you in the right neighbourhood.

Questions
2027 F-150 questions we actually get asked
What is new on the 2027 Ford F-150?
Four things. A new 3.0L EcoBoost V6 becomes the standard engine, replacing the 2.7L EcoBoost. The 5.0L V8 returns to King Ranch and Platinum for the first time since 2023. BlueCruise with Towing lets you drive hands free while pulling a trailer. And a new F-150 Carhartt package arrives on the 4x4 XLT Crew Cab. XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum also get new grille designs.
Is the 2027 F-150 a full redesign?
No. The 2027 F-150 is a mid cycle update, not a new generation. The cab, bed and frame carry over. The changes are the engine lineup, the towing technology, the grilles and wheels on some trims, and the new Carhartt package.
How much does the 2027 Ford F-150 cost?
Ford has published one 2027 F-150 price so far. The 2027 F-150 Carhartt has a manufacturer suggested retail price of 62,660 dollars, before taxes, title and license. Pricing for the rest of the 2027 lineup has not been released. Call Ramey Ford Princeton at 304-716-4594 and we will quote your configuration as soon as the order guide opens.
What is the new 3.0L EcoBoost engine like compared to the 2.7L?
Ford says both engines reach the same peak capability, and that the 3.0L shares the same core architecture as the 2.7L it replaces. The difference is where the power arrives. Ford quotes roughly 10 to 11 percent more torque in the range where everyday driving actually happens. On US-460 out of Princeton, that is the part of the rev range you live in.
Can the 2027 F-150 really tow hands free?
Yes, on qualifying roads. BlueCruise with Towing is new for 2027 and works on more than 130,000 miles of pre qualified divided highways that Ford calls Blue Zones. I-77 through Mercer County is the kind of road it is built for. It is hands free, not eyes free, so you still watch the road and the system watches you.
What is included in the 2027 F-150 Carhartt package?
The F-150 Carhartt is exclusive to the 4x4 XLT Crew Cab. It brings Carhartt themed badging, unique 20 inch wheels, fender vents, two tone seat covers, Carhartt accent stitching inside, and a spray in bedliner. Ford lists a manufacturer suggested retail price of 62,660 dollars.
When can I get a 2027 F-150 at Ramey Ford in Princeton?
Orders are open now and Ford expects first deliveries in early 2027. That makes this an order and build truck rather than something sitting on the lot on Courthouse Road today. Starting the order early is how you control the configuration instead of taking what arrives.
How much can a 2027 F-150 tow?
Up to 13,500 pounds with the 3.5L EcoBoost V6, on a SuperCrew with the 6.5 foot box and 4x4, properly equipped with the Tow Haul Package and the optional Max Tow Axle. The new 3.0L EcoBoost is rated up to 8,400 pounds on a Regular Cab 6.5 foot box 4x2. Towing figures vary with cargo, configuration, accessories and passengers.
