BlueCruise
Automatic Lane Change arrives
The meaningful 2027 addition is Automatic Lane Change, which Ford calls the next step in BlueCruise. The system can change lanes for you rather than handing the wheel back every time traffic needs passing.
On a three row family SUV the value of that is specific. It is the run north on I-77 toward Beckley, or the long haul out to Wytheville, where the driving is not difficult but it is relentless.
As always it is hands free, not eyes free. The driver facing camera is watching to make sure you are still doing your half of the job.

The Sinister Package
Ford's line for the new package is "own the night," and the Sinister Package for Explorer ST delivers what that implies: gloss black wheels and unique accent lighting.
The ST remains the performance trim and starts at $53,875 MSRP. Below it sits ST-Line at $44,415 MSRP, which takes the look without the powertrain, and for a lot of buyers that is the honest answer to what they actually wanted.
The 3.0L twin turbo EcoBoost remains available across multiple trims for 2027.
Explorer Tremor
There is an off road Explorer, and people forget
Explorer Tremor starts at $49,415 MSRP and sits between ST-Line and Platinum. It is the configuration most people in this part of the state should at least look at before defaulting to Platinum.
Southern West Virginia is not flat and it is not reliably paved. Between the Hatfield-McCoy trail system, gravel access roads through the Jefferson National Forest and a Mercer County winter, the off road trim on a family three row is less of an indulgence here than it is in a suburb.
Come and drive one. That is a more useful ten minutes than any spec table.
